Objective

The 4-H Extension Office Assistant will provide general office support, as well as assistance to the 4-H County Youth Coordinator in the areas of programming, event planning, customer service, and marketing. The 4-H Extension Office Assistant reports to the County Youth Coordinator and is under the supervision of the Webster County Extension Council and Regional Director. Responsibilities

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

· Gather, organize, market, restock, and disassemble materials for events and county fair

· Preparation and execution of county fair activities

· Accurately enter and organize county program data

· Assist in delivering youth programming as needed

· Youth leadership activities

· Answer office phone and assist with walk-in clients as needed

· Report any safety problems or event issues immediately to the County Youth Coordinator

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School graduate or equivalent

· Good written, verbal, and customer relations and communication skills

· Reliable and prompt, with strong work ethic

· Ability to collaborate, problem-solve, and quickly adapt

· Maintain confidentiality

· Proficiency in basic computer and technology operations

· Hours are flexible, including some nights and weekends

· Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation

· Must pass the Child Protection and Safety Policy background screening

Preferred Qualifications

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development

· Knowledge of 4-H, Extension and Outreach, and/or the county fair

· Currently enrolled in a higher education program working toward a degree in education, communication, agriculture, or a related field

Additional Information

COMPENSATION:

This is a year-round, part-time position working approximately 24 - 30 hours from June 1 – mid August. During the academic year, mid-August – May 30, the schedule will include approximately 10-12 hours weekly. A typical work schedule for the summer months will be 10am – 4:30pm Monday - Thursday and the schedule for the academic year is 1:30 – 4:30pm three to four afternoons a week. More hours may be required during fair week, July 15-21, 2024. The hourly wage for this position is $15.00 per hour with reimbursement available for work-related travel expenses.
