Purpose of the Position
The ADON will be responsible for the oversight and coordination of training for all Nurses and CNAs in the Long-Term Care Neighborhoods. This position will serve as a training mentor for the Long-Term Care Neighborhoods and ensure the CNAs and Nurses are trained, competent and able to complete the necessary skills to do their jobs in a safe manner at the highest quality and within the standards of practice. This position will work closely and partner with the Coordinators and assist with the MDS/care planning process for assigned residents in the Long Term Care Neighborhoods.
Essential Functions
• Provide leadership and vision to the household by modeling professionalism, customer service, collaboration, flexibility and acts as a coach to keep processes resident-centered.
• Responsible for scheduling and coordination of nurses and caregivers for the Simpson Health Center.
• Assist Staff Development Coordinator with skills fairs, meetings, competencies, and orientations, as needed.
• Scheduled to work one shift a pay period in a Simpson Center Health Center neighborhood.
• Coordinates and develops training for new CNAs and Nurses after onboarding has been completed. Collaborate with the Staff Development Coordinator to ensure there is a successful transition from onboarding to training in the neighborhoods.
• Communicate frequently and effectively with Coordinators on training process with each new employee.
• Attend monthly QAPI meetings. Prepare and report on new employee training and annual competencies/validation.
• Cover Coordinator's job duties when Coordinator is on PTO.
• Is required to be on call for in the nursing administration rotation schedule.
• Work collectively with the Coordinators when there is a nurse call in to find coverage or fill in as a charge nurse as needed.
• Works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, co-workers, families, visitors and
volunteers to create a warm and positive environment in the home.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable functional environment by assessing the household for sanitation and potential hazards, implementing practices utilizing disaster preparedness and emergent care, investigating and reporting all incidents and accidents, observing the team for safe work habits, and addressing observations.
• Encourages a climate of continued learning and personal growth for all.
• Encourages extended family participation.
• Works with SHC team to implement and improve systems.
Care Plan and Documentation Functions
• Participates in care plan conferences for assigned neighborhood residents and communicates conference results with team members, as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Confident in clinical functions of a nursing home. Knowledge of nursing home rules and regulations along with critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge of a resident-centered model of service delivery within neighborhood.

• Ability to work effectively with co-workers in a team environment.
• Proficiency in writing and communicating with other team members.

Minimum Requirements
• Education: One- or Two-year degree or above
• Licensure: RN, must be willing to obtain MDS certification
• Experience: Must demonstrate leadership qualities and initiative in primary job function
• Computer skills
• CPR Certification
Physical Demands
• Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves during work hours.
• Willing to work beyond normal working hours, and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Mental Demands
• Subject to frequent interruptions.
• May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, families, and visitors.
